About
Us

Britannia Sea Scouts are one of several Sea Scout groups in the Wellington region. Sea Scout Groups are part of the wider Scout Association of New Zealand, and do lots of the things other Scout groups do, but spend much of their time on water-based activities. We run sections for different ages and the group is supported by our awesome volunteer leaders, adult helpers and a parents/caregivers committee. Our group leader is Klare Braye. Feel free to email us for more information or fill in our join form. Note: Our Scouts group is currently full until Term 4 2024 but you can email us to join our waitlist.

Scouts and Venturers

Scouts and Venturers meet on Wednesdays from 7pm to 9pm. We also do sailing and boat maintenance on Sunday afternoons - especially in the summer.

As a Sea Scout troop we frequently go rowing and sailing in our boats for fun and to train for local and national Scout Regattas. We use a 27 ft whaler, the 17 ft cutters and the 11 ft sunburst dinghies. Our weekly programme is designed to support our activities, both on and off the water, as well as trying new activities, playing games and just having fun.

We go camping and tramping to small camps and to large national camps such as Jamborees. As Scouts learn and improve in the skills offered in our programme they are awarded badges to recognise this. The highest is the Chief Scout's Award.
